Good morning and welcome to Get Healthy Now. So many of us are careful with what we do, how we do it, what we say, avoid hurting others out of respect and then...... poooooff, your money is gone!

Why do I want to share this and some valuable tips on how to avoid getting defrauded? I am Denise Thomson, someone who's very careful and pays attention, yet, I got railroaded into someone committing fraud on my dime and I want to point out the signals to pay attention to and to avoid.

I received a letter that said my Amazon order was processed and delivered. FIRST red flag.

I read it carefully and it said, if I didn't place this order to call Amazon at ....... number. SECOND red flag. I checked my Amazon account and didn't find any such transaction is such a hefty price.

So, I decided to call that number and the person answered with Amazon. I asked for the name and was given a name that did not match the accent of the person. THIRD red flag.

The address of another person was on the receipt, supposedly from Amazon. I did not know that person and definitely did not give permission to anyone to use my account.

This person who committed the fraud, sounded so loving and caring, and constantly reminded me that he was here to help me solve the problem. Then he managed to access my bank account and transferred lots of money from one of my accounts to the one Amazon would charge, asked me if I received the refund....

Bank, Store, Police have been notified. Filing a report here, and calling the Police in Louisiana to go pick him up. The store mgr told me that this guy defrauded at least another 20 - 30 people within about the same time he did defraud me.

Be careful! When something doesn't feel or sound right, don't move forward. Stop, Challenge, Choose and be done.

Expensive lesson.
