News: Fires in Napa, Sonoma, Santa Rosa...

Facts: 23 killed, including a couple, husband 100, wife 98, just celebrated 75th anniversary, burned in their home

20,000 evacuated

3,500 homes destroyed

22 wild fires

4,400 people in shelters

nearly 900 wineries in that area

8,000 firefighters battling the blaze (assisted by FD from other areas)

Tubbs fire burned ~ 44 square miles

Napa County: 34,270 acres burned, 10 % contained

It's harvest time. Not all grapes have been harvested yet. Huge loss financially, mentally and physically as homes and wineries and vineyards need to be rebuilt. (Vines don't burn that quickly, experience, will push buds again)

Our vineyard and family is fine.

Brother-in-law had to evacuate, is alive, though his 10 acres are flattened, house is gone, vineyard damaged and grapes not yet harvested.

He is devastated and it's affecting his mental health. Not the only one. So many have lost everything, but what they still have is their LIFE. Material things can be rebuilt after insurance claims have been paid, lives cannot be replaced, they are priceless.

Reminder: clean up everything around your home within a 50 yard circumference to reduce disaster. In San Bernardino County it's mandatory to keep the grass no higher than 4 inches, pine needles not higher than 2 inches, no pine cones.... enforced to prevent such fires. Everyone should be cognizant to keep the surroundings clean. No cigaret buds on ground. Little sparks can cause huge fires.

Count your blessings for being alive, do, be, give your best daily. Keep your mental health alert and be thankful for what you have.
