There is a lot of hunger out there and many people are interested in finding something that is real, something with a strong foundation.

“Be watchful(keep your eyes open), stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love”. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

Proverbs 20:13:“Love not sleep, lest you be reduced to poverty; eyes wide open mean abundant food”.

Matthew 25:13 states, “Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

There is the constant theme that we are to keep our eyes open, to keep watch and to stand firm in our faith.

In today’s world, it seems that compromise is everywhere. People are totally all over the board not caring much for the Word of the Lord. Who is listening? Who is awake?

This is one of the important missions of the Shepherds of the Church, to stay awake and protect the flock from predators.

Young David told King Saul, “Your servant used to tend his father’s sheep, and whenever a lion or bear came to carry off a sheep from the flock, I would go after it and attack it and rescue the prey from it’s mouth. If it attacked me, I would seize it by the jaw, strike it, and kill it. Your servant has killed both a lion and a bear, and the uncircumcised Philistine will be as one of them, because he has insulted the armies of the living God” (1 Samuel 17:34-37).
