1 Thessalonians 4:1-5
From this passage, we have learned that the Christian is responsible for "possessing his vessel [his body] in sanctification and honor." In other words, we are not left to the whims of our flesh or our sexual desires. Rather, we are to enact methods that will enable us to live in such a way that we maintain sanctification -- holy and honorable living in the world as unto God. Our bodies are not to be used to serve the devil, our flesh, or the world. They are to be used to serve God; that is what it means to be sanctified.
