The Gospel According to Wonder Woman (Gospel Light Minute #278)

The other day I had the joy of going to see "Wonder Woman" with my daughters. This summer, the DC Comics superhero film "Wonder Woman," was released to theaters to largely positive reviews and critical praise for its direction by Patty Jenkins; performances by stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, and others; action sequences; and musical score. The film set records for the biggest domestic opening for a female director and the biggest opening for a female-led comic book film. It has grossed over $670 million worldwide, making it the fifth highest-grossing film of 2017. It most recently earned the title of being the highest-grossing film within the DC Extended Universe, surpassing films such as "Man of Steel," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," and "Suicide Squad."

Set in 1918 during World War I, the film tells the story of Princess Diana, who grows up on the hidden Amazon island of Themyscira among a race of warrior women who were created by the gods of Mount Olympus to protect humankind. After American pilot and Allied spy Steve Trevor crashes offshore of the island and is rescued by Diana, he tells her about the ongoing World War. She then leaves her home with Steve in order to end the conflict, transforming from a naive warrior to an inspiring hero in the process.
