The so-called sexual revolution that began in the Sixties ushered in an era of "free sex," in which people increasingly began to think that it was not wrong to engage in sexual activity with any number of different people, married and unmarried. While this view bucked the traditional views of chastity and monogamy that had held for centuries, it wasn't really a revolution as much as it was a revival -- a revival of some of the same philosophy that Paul criticizes right here in the book of Corinthians.
