Our key Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 10:13: "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
TEXT: 1 John 2:15-17
The third type of desire that John mentions as he warns us against loving the world is "the pride of life." Warren Wiersbe said, “The third device is the “boastful pride of life”. God’s glory is rich and full; man’s glory is vain and empty. In fact, the Greek word for “pride” was used to describe a braggart who was trying to impress people with his importance. People have always tried to outdo others in their spending and their getting. The boastful pride of life motivates much of what such people do.”
