Our soul winning verse from the Word of God today is Luke 9:23 which reads: "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."

Our soul winning devotional is part 48 of our series titled "What Evangelism Is" from Dave Earley and David Wheeler.

At this point a good question to ask a lost person might be, "Is there any good reason you should not put your faith in Jesus right now?"

Then say, "Why not give your life to Jesus right now? If you would like, I can verbalize a prayer that summarizes what we have been talking about. Let's close our eyes, and I will say the prayer out loud slowly. If it expresses the deep desire of your heart, you can repeat each phrase after me."

At this point most people gulp and say, "Alright."

Then pray a prayer like the one I'm about to say, pausing after each phrase to let them say it. Of course, often, if you have had several gospel conversations with the person, they know what they want to say to God without your help.

Dear God, I admit that I have sinned. I admit that I do not deserve eternal life. I believe that Jesus never sinned. I believe that He died to pay for my sins...
