In the premiere episode of in HeynSight Radio, host Dalma Heyn discusses love myths—those deeply felt ideas about relationships that get passed on and on for generations until all we know is that we’ve always believed them and will continue to believe them. Says Dalma, "I call them myths not only because they have taken root in our consciousness, the way all ancient tales and legends do, but also because they are so...wrong.  A myth, after all, is defined both as “an ancient popular belief or idea” and “a widely held but false idea.”

To believe in these ancient and popular love myths is to consign yourself to confusion and self-doubt when your own love stories don’t follow their scripts—and they most surely won’t.  Once you know that real love doesn’t follow a script that someone else wrote a century ago, but instead is a personal stories only you can write, you’ll be happier inside your own unconventional, surprising and unique relationships. Losing the myths, then, is the evolutionary’s job:  For only when we’re brave enough to believe in our own experience, and make that the narrative, can we find the  authentic connection we can thrive in.
