I Thirst

From the deep?
A cry,
Unsearchable:
'I thirst.'

Every child is born crying and thirsty, and from this first sound comes the first relationship; the first prayer; the first proof that we are not self-sustaining beings. To thirst is to long for something outside of ourselves that is essential to life. Thirst is our first social need; and, for all lambs, our primal connection to the Living God who created us.
