Over the weekend I attended a GOP Meet n Greet for Harris County Judges and I discussed my surprised as to the commentary I heard at that function. No one knew anything of Russell Pearce or FAIR!! I read an excerpt provided by a listener of the Iowa state Republican party platform that is, at the very least, very unfriendly to Latinos, and the most, the latest effort by the nativists and bigots at FAIR to address immigration at the state level. I read some the party's new platform planks which are both unconstitutional in nature and very radical otherwise. Then, I read another article from the Los Angeles Times that describes how the Republican party of California actually recognizes the importance of the Latino vote and how not insulting them is a wiser policy than trying to round them up and deporting them and their children. In their Governor's and Senator's races, they have two women running and they do NOT mention immigration at all. I think that would be wise policy for all Republican parties. I finish with commentary from friends on Facebook who simply denied there was any issue when I complained that Republicans should treat Latinos with respect. The readers argued with me there was no point to my complaints and I shouldn't ask for special status. I don't think they are too bright and don't understand at all.
