Staying pure before marriage is a biblical expectation. But how do you go about doing this? This waiting…what do we do? Where do we turn? LOOK UP then DOWN! Look up to God, pray and ask him for guidance. As single Christians, this road to purity is not easy and not one you can travel alone. You need God and also other purity “pledgers” to keep you focused, to help you keep your mind set on the goal: to remain pure at any cost.

After lookin...g up, you then look down to the word of God. It provides excellent guidance for maintaining your purity. Guess what? The world won’t like that you’re making this pledge; they are going to jeer at you and make sly remarks. But the word says that “If you were of the world, the world would [love you as] its own. However, because you are not of the world but I have chosen you out of it, the world hates you” John 15:19.

So….you’re not the popular one with all the friends, but because you have taken the Purity Pledge, you have a friend who will be there in this life and in the life after this one! So, cheer up! In the end you win. Check mate.
