1 Timothy 3 outlines the character traits required for someone to be a leader in the church. But are church-goers using that same standard? If you used that scripture as a BACKGROUND CHECK... would you still follow YOUR pastor? If you're doing your own preacher background check... what would you look for? How many times has he been married? Is he behind on child support payments? Does he have HIV? Has he been arrested? Has he been to school? Does he have a good reputation? Does he have a drug problem? Is he greedy? Is he even-tempered and able to teach? Is he violent? Is his behavior above reproach? The answers to these questions may DISQUALIFY a lot of pastors from their "positions".
