"An Elder must be blameless and the husband of one wife..." Many of the scandals that break out in church could have been avoided if the Elder's Council was truly doing its job. But what is the CHURCH's definition of an elder? The elder's board? What are these modern, modified job descriptions that do nothing except parrot the pastor or bishop even at the derision of the general assembly? Do elders hold other elders accountable? Do elders truly help keep the pastor/bishop accountable? Does one ever get terminated from the elder's board?
