Dick B. speaks about AA history for 2013

The year 2013 is almost upon us. 2013 marks the 23rd year of our publishing research on A.A. History virtually unknown to AAs, alcoholics, and recovery workers for decades. But the scene has changed. No longer are history-hungry alcoholics and addicts limited to reading learned papers thirty years old, or official publications that never quite told the whole story. In fact, for the past 3 years, International Christian Recovery Coalition has grown and grown in worldwide participation, projects, research teams, and Christian recovery leaders and workers. And this next year will make the application of this history known and effective to thousands who still suffer.

My son Ken and I have just published two books that will start the ball rolling. The first is Stick with the Winners--a documented report on what A.A.'s own Conference-approved literature already supports in terms of using old school A.A.program techniques today. The second is Pioneer Stories in Alcoholics Anonymous: God's Role in Recovery Confirmed! Here we let the early AAs tell in their own personal stories--so long removed from public view--exactly what they did in their AA if Akron Christian Fellowship to establish their relationships with God and be healed. And the shibboleth that a suffering drunk can manufacture, fashion or choose his own conception of some idol or false God is now on its way out with actual proof. A  third book is Carry This Message. It is a personalized account of how Dick and Ken took Dick's own 12th Step sponsorship of many years and enabled newcomers to learn their own history,rely on the Christian techniques of old timers, and do so in today's A.A.
