I love the scriptures!!!

I just have to comment how grateful I am for the opportunity to share the scriptures with you in this way. I feel the Spirit so strongly as I read them on this program and things or impressions about the scriptures are so vivid for me in these readings. This brings me great joy and comfort.

Lehi speaks of his wilderness of affliction. As a parent I believe that his affliction had more to do with the quarreling and murmuring among his sons that with the life style he had by leaving his home and possessions. He speaks to Joseph, his youngest, of his namesake Joseph of Egypt and the witness he received of the Lord concerning his posterity.

A heavenly messenger testifies of the power of the word of the Lord. Interesting is the use of the word "quick" here as well as powerful. I suspect that quick does not mean time but rather perhaps getting to the real issue at hand. The power of the word always astounds me as I read the scriptures and consider how loosely we throw words about as mortals and how much damage we do in the process.

Each of us may be of use to Heavenly Father. Our current prophet has said every man, woman, and child has a part in this plan of salvation and the work of Heavenly Father. Enoch was slow of speech and not liked among the children of men, yet he was called because of his heart and willingness to do the will of the Lord. May this be said of each of us as well.
