The vinyard! What a metaphor for the house of Israel, the church of Jesus Christ! Isaiah's wording suggests that if we are not seeking God we may as well have no existence or have no life at all.
To enjoy ourselves and seek strictly what brings us pleasure is not what man was put here for. These are strong warnings and we need to listen and consider what they mean to us individually and as a people.
