I love the scriptures!!! Review: My apologies, we did review some of which we read last time. I am hoping that this is not too disconcerning. Every time one reads the word new insights and understandings may be received.
In Genesis we read the sad tale of Esau losing his blessing to his brother, Jacob. But is it truly sad? The blessing was given by the power of the priesthood of God. Now, Isaac may have been fooled for a second or two but I do not believe that God was. Here, also, is a good case for the development of the psyche of Rebecca as she took it upon herself to have this son betray the other. One might question if following the letter of the law, as Rebecca did not do here. is more important than seeing that the priesthood and the blessings promised to Abraham where given to someone who would honor them. In Matthew, we saw again the precepts of man interfering with the work and desires of God as Christ was among those who knew him well, or at least his mortal family. They were not able to exercise faith enough that Jesus could perform many miracles there. And then the ultimate example of following man's ways and not God's as we look at how Herod was forced by protocol and "not losing face" to behead the Savior's earthly cousin, John The Baptist. Ultimately though we see the Savior showing us how to function in life as he blessed and served those who followed him and did not allow his sorrow at John's death to make him bitter toward his fellowman. May we seek to understand and comprehend the example of our Redeemer and go about doing the good he sent us here to do. Till next time, Bye for now, Christa-Ann.
