I love the scriptures! Please join me and bring a prayer. Review: In Genesis we read about Lot and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. How Lot told his sons in law that the city would be destroyed and he was thought of as someone who "mocked" by his sons in law. Do we think of the prophets and others who would warn us of the danger of our ways as those who mock us or are putting us down, or "judging us"? When we receive counsel from others I suggest that it would be wise to look at ourselves and see if there may be something that they can see that we cannot. This is not an uncommon human condition. If we do this we may well have reason to thank the one that we might otherwise accuse of judging us. This is not a matter that does not have dire consequences, especially if we look at the consequence that these sons in law of Lot faced which was death as the city of Lot was destroyed. We ended this discussion as Lot's wife looked back. Could she have been considering her daughters that she had left behind with the sons in law? We will review this verse again when we read next week. In Matthew we have the words of Christ recorded. And here we read how the general population or common society of that "generation" was seen by the Lord. We might reflect on how he would identify this generation. Do we "judge" people by appearance or do we really see who people are. John the Baptist had a devil according to that generation and Christ was a winebibber and gluttonous. This is significant again about how we are to look at the environment around us. We must seek the companionship of the Holy Ghost if we are to be able to see things as God does. It is his will and his purposes that are to be fulfilled on this earth so it is his Spirit that we must seek and his understanding. Christ continued that thought as he told of the various cities that had seen mighty miracles from him and denied him. God reveals his truths to babes. I am grateful, we simply need be humble and listen...
