Changing Minds Online Presents...1st Sunday Superstars!
These are people that changed their lives around for the better and became true inspirations!

The 1st Sunday Superstar for May is Tim Hurst, Karate Teacher and Marathon Runner.  Tim was very active as a young man. He was an avid bicyclist, runner and all around sports enthusiast. His dream was to one day teach karate at my own studio and run the Boston marathon. At age 21 while riding his motorcycle to college early one morning in May of 1981 he was struck head on by a garbage truck that turned in front of him on the highway. He had broken almost every bone in my body and was in the hospital for a year before he was released. A year after being released from the hospital he made the conscious decision to have it amputated from mid calf down. After waiting the time he needed to heal, Tim became very active again.

Unable to run with the mostly wooden prosthetic leg he had started riding bikes, lifting weights and teaching karate again. He has taught hundreds of students over the years and still continue to teach karate to this day but he still secretly dreamed of one day running the Boston Marathon. As the years passed and technology caught up, he was able to obtain one of the new "running blades". With this blade he has ran 43 marathons total in 38 different states, including the Boston and New York Marathons. He is now on a quest to run 50 marathons in 50 states. We are excited to have him share his story with us Sunday, 5/3 at 9pm EST / 8pm CST. Call in at (949) 203-4763 and hear this wonderful story. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/changingmindsonline/2015/05/04/1st-sunday-superstars--tim-hurst
