In this episode of Change Pioneers, host Sarah Todd welcomes Jeff Rousset, National Organizer for U.S. nonprofit Prometheus Radio Project (PRP). They will discuss how PRP helped to get the new Local Community Radio Act passed by the U.S. Congress, and what it will mean for communities that start these stations.
New low frequency stations across the U.S. will be going live over the next 1-2 years. The new stations have the potential to change the face of radio nationwide. Many such stations are also being used in other countries to ensure a "free press" local coverage of community issues and events.
We'll talk about the stories of these stations and how to get one up and running. Prometheus provides extensive information and support to U.S. groups wanting to start low frequency radio stations in their community. Private foundations are funding other similar efforts across the globe.
