Have you ever had one of those days where you think you're ready to handle whatever comes your way? Then, POW! Out of the blue, a memory, seeing someone from your past or an anniversary - happy or sad - will get stuck in your thought processes and everything goes careening out of control?

Instead of feeling Empowered you now feel like a emotional wreck. What happened? Things you thought you dealt with long ago are right in front of you again. People you hadn't seen for years seem to be possessing every brain cell for hours - if not days - on end.

Do you find that the unhappy, sad or devastating memories stay with you far longer than the happy ones do? Why do you hang onto the things that hurt you? If a pleasant memory comes to mind, you smile, maybe think of it for a few moments, then go back to whatever you were doing.

But if the thought is an unpleasant one, you hang onto it, reanalyze it from every angle you can come up with and the result is that you find yourself reliving things that you thought were long forgotten.

The result is a tug-of-war between your determination to stay centered and Empowered and the emotions that are seemingly uncontrollable. They can turn on the waterworks, eat up hours of precious time when you needed to be productive and make you feel downright miserable.
