We look at a person, place or thing based on a set of ideas we've learned.
We learn what we live and what society has taught us. But is everything that society has taught us correct?
There are subtler ideas we've been tuaght to beleive and theses ideas have caused the systematic repression of woman-especially woman of color- for the last 2000 years.
From the latter idea false notion that we alone brought sin into the world, and that our sexuality[men lusting after us or our expression of our own sexuality] has to be repressed, stunted or exploited because we alone listened to that horrendous snake [that God allowed] in the garden!
From that sin and the the curse that followed he life of a woman was changed to: Wanting her husband, being ruled over and pain of childbirth.
1. The realtionship between man and woman was one of sujugation of the woman
2. The authority of a woman was in question and repressed and not co-equal by the second edict.
3. The very life giving fuction of childbirth would cause pain therefore bringing a child into the world from a stressed and harried mother, which could effect the growth and development of that child for its lifetime.
Damn...now that some cursing!
But is it real? Was that God, who had been for many many years considered a woman and a mother...or was that from the minds of males in a quest to subugate all things womanly and later all things African?
It is a must listen for all who have daughters...what will she be in the 21st century?
