In Genesis Chapter 16, Sarah decides, after much testing, to ask Abram to have sexual relations with her maidservant, Hagar. Hagar did conceive a child, however, the promise of the Lord had yet to be fulfilled. In the cycle of patience, there are many tests and disappointments. Sometimes rigorous testing causes absolute unbelief which is the exact opposite of "expectancy". It is possible that negative attiudes evolve out of severe testing. The scripture says that Abram heeded the the voice of Sarai. God destined wives to be "help mates" not vessels that sponsor negativity. Even though God, reassured Abram over and ove that a son from his own flesh would be realized, Abram agreed to comply with Sarai's request. The result of such actions was consequential. A son was born that was not ordained by God and the concubine, Hagar, was displace. God sent an Angel to favor Hagar in spite of it all. God sees and knows our destiny, even when mistakes are made and comitted by those that are out of our control. God sees and still allows blessings to flow in our lives.
