In the last half of 1 Samuel 18, David has chosen to accept the offer to marry Saul's daughter and to go and fulfill his end of the bargain to gather the foreskins of the Philistines for King Saul and the Nation of Israel.  In spite of these events, King Saul becomes a constant enemy for David and God provides the remedy for David in this very unfortunate and drastic situation.
