In 1 Samuel 18:17, Saul offers Merab, his oldest daughter, to David after he defeats Goliath. David is not as stupid as he looked and humbly turned away from the opportunity to marry Merab (part of the name means to shoot at someone). Instead, David accepts Saul's second offer to marry his youngest daughter Michal, which means "Who is like God". The choice would have serious consequences later in David's life.
