In Genesis Chapter 50, Jacob has been buried and Joseph's brothers fear reprisals from Joseph as a result of their past betrayals.  Their betrayals led to Joseph's enslavement and ultimate imprisonment.  The brothers fear that Joseph will retaliate against them for the wrongs they committed.  Joseph seeks to reassure his brothers that they are forgiven.
