Tonight on my show I welcome back Lisabeth Mackall and her husband Frank. Lisabeth is a speech-language pathologist with 19 years of experience treating adults and children with language disorders, head injuries and neurological impairments. She has managed multiple rehab teams throughout Ohio, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and has developed many training tools used to educate physical, occupational and speech therapists.  Lisabeth is married to Savage Minnesota Police Officer Frank Mackall, and they have four children ages 17, 16, 11 and 8. In January of 2012, Officer Mackall was involved in a critical car accident, leaving him with a traumatic brain injury, and a long road of recovery. Following Frank’s accident, Lisabeth gave up her career in rehab, and has devoted her time to her family, to Frank’s recovery, and to educating both the public and law enforcement about the ordeal related to her husband’s accident, brain injury and recovery, caregiver fatigue and law enforcement trauma.  Earlier this year, Lisabeth published her first book, 27 Miles: The Tank’s Journey Home, which is a trauma based journal that chronicles the first 84 days of her husband’s recovery, and which brings an unprecedented look inside the feelings and emotions of someone living through a true traumatic event.
Lisabeth continues her work with families recovering from neurologic impairments and injuries; she is now a freelance writer, blogger, professional speaker and life coach.
