The Cause is a play on old words and terms meaning something worth fighting. “The Cause” is a slang term used by both the North and South during the Civil War. The Cause began as a southern reference to describe “something worth fighting” and later was their term for the war itself.
Author Ellyn Baker holds a bachelors degree in Psychology and Human Development. After completing courses with the Institute for Children’s Literature, she forwarded these skills to write fiction. Ellyn and her family enjoy Civil War re enacting and volunteering at Heritage Hill State Park in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
