Submissive or Subservient?

Growing up in church , many black women have been told that we need to be submissive to men. Our pastors have told us that this is a position of strength and that it doesn't mean that the woman is a doormat. However, when you look up the word submissive you get this definition: compliant,unassertive,obedient. Oddly enough, the word subservient means the same thing. Biblically speaking being submissive has been taken out of context. Ephesians 5:22 talks about how women should submit to their wives but men are also taking care of their wives and they love their wives. So the question becomes when does submission become subservience and are men prepared to have a submissive wife by doing what needs to be done to attract and keep that wife?
