In this the Westernized society that we live in it is expected that all agreements be in writing, signed, sometimes notarized and often times all of this is handled by an attorney. It is our fail-safe to hold someone accountable to one's word. In contrast there are still places in this world where someone's word and a hand shake is all that is needed to conduct and complete business transactions.

There are many people that believe the majority of people only tell you what you want to hear, seemingly because they expect you to do the same. There are also many people who will tell you what they think you want to hear out of fear that the truth may hurt and/or that you may not be able to handle the truth.

Which is more important to you? Having someone tell you one thing out of consideration of your feelings because they think it will be easier to handle, only to later find out it was not the truth or receiving factual information initially, even if  it maybe unpleasant. How important is someone's word to you?
