Over the last few years there have been simmering tensions in various communities across Nashville. Perhaps the nature of the anxiety is a feeling of distrust and misunderstanding. In my travels as a former candidate for Tennessee State Senate, I discovered that many young and old residents don’t fully understand how city government works in concert with state government. The conversation about the “Social Contract” between citizens and government seems appropriate for tonight’s dialogue.
