"Apryl Pooley is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Michigan State University Neuroscience Program where she researches the effects of trauma on the brain. Apryl began neuroscience research to gain a better understanding of her own life, but what she found was a drive to help other people living with PTSD. Apryl shared her own story of rape, abuse, addiction, and PTSD in her book Fortitude: A PTSD Memoir, released by the Gravity Imprint of Booktrope Publishers on October 16, 2015. Apryl currently lives in Lansing, Michigan with her wife and two dogs where she works to ensure that all survivors of sexual violence in her community receive the resources and respect they need."
