Tea and Madness is a collection of narrative essays and poetry I've written over a period of time, about three years, in which I my life really fell apart in almost every possible. I would be dishonest if I said it had been perfect before, nobody's life is no matter how it looks, but man... even when I was pulling pieces together for this project I couldn't believe it was over. And at the same time, this horrible time is over! It's amazing! It doesn't mean I'm still not healing from all these experiences but the actual crisis chatter is over. Ultimately, this is what is so important for other women to know. There are enough "self-help" books on the markets. They are useful and helpful and have their place. I want to celebrate the chaos and messiness that makes us human. Women are hard enough on themselves; we just need to accept that the water has to boil like a tempest before it can settle to the right temperature that brings out the flavor in tea leaves.
