Leukemia develops when blood cells produced in the bone marrow grow out of control and are unable to maintain production of sufficient levels of red blood cells and platelets. This impacts white blood cell production and their infection-fighting ability. With an estimated 50,000 new cases of leukemia expected to be diagnosed in the United States this year David hopes to inspire a consciousness about the importance of becomming a bone marrow doner. Through his story, he reveals his emotional journey that began with his inner turmoil and ended with his transformation and desire to help others.
David's story is testiment to the strength of the human spirit to overcome adversity. Saved by a complete stranger, he comes face to face with his donor, and speaks to the generosity of spirit that gave him the gift of life.
