It's difficult to look at the San Diego Padres and think "now there's an exciting baseball team!", but it's a lot easier to look at the FOX-TV show Pitch and think "now there's an exciting TV show about baseball!". We used that reasoning this week to close out the NL West preview as writer Jason Holtham of the aforementioned FOX-TV show Pitch joins us to discuss the fictional Padres, a far more entertaining subject.
If you haven't watched Pitch yet, the entire first season (just 10 episodes!) is available to stream on Hulu. It's fun and interesting and has for a backdrop a recognizable world of Major League Baseball. They even managed to characterize the fictional Giants in ways that are familiar. That said, listen to Jason's story about when the TV show shot at AT&T Park...
We also talk to Adam Peterson of Purple Row about those Colorado Rockies. It turns out, while the Giants have been focusing their attention on the Dodgers, the Rockies have been stockpiling pitchers. Will this obnoxious team annoy the Giants even more this season? Probably. But will that annoyance propel them into a playoff race?
And, of course, we answer your Twitter questions. They were a bit more existenstial than usual, and that's okay.
Danny Russell of DRays Bay stop by to discuss the Rays in the final episode of the AL East preview series. They go over the Archer-led pitching staff, with a look at some of the confusing trade rumours, the Drew Smyly deal, Evan Longoria's 2016 resurgence, and the jam-packed Tampa outfield. Greg and Josh also discuss the Aaron Sanchez contract issue, John Gibbons sticking around for another few years, the pending full returns of Josh Donaldson and Devon Travis, Francisco Liriano's dominance, and the messy left field situation.
This week, we're joined by LL's resident MiLB aficionado Ethan Novak, as well as site intern Ben Thoen. We discuss some of the major storylines heading into Spring Training: Felix, World Baseball Classic, and the youth movement on the 2017 roster.

In the second segment, Jeff and Mike unveiled their 3rd annual batch of Over/Under predictions for a number of Royals statistics in 2017, then offered up some bold predictions about the season.

Spring Training is here and that means Dr. Pepper? Carlos starts things off with a bizarre comparison that includes a desert and Dr. Pepper.
Then the guys discuss some quirky Maddon moves and whether he's overmanaging or not: Schwarber in the leadoff spot and a two-headed #5 starter.
The question of the week compares Jorge Soler and Eloy Jimenez, while Joel digs up some old guy for 60 Seconds with a former Cub.
