Barbara Conelli interviews traveler Jody Hanson. Live from Cambodia!
Born in a small town in central Canada in the middle of winter, Jody Hanson often quips that she never, ever, ever wants to see snow again. Further, the only acceptable ice is floating in her vodka and tonic. When she went to teach in Nigeria in 1981 the travel bug bit — deep. Jody has visited 102 countries, lived in eight — Canada, Nigeria, China, New Zealand, Australia, Morocco, Chile and Argentina — and holds passports in three. All her worldly possessions fit into one suitcase, a carry-on and a diaper bag. A freelance writer and editor, she can work any where provided she has a desk and an Internet connection. Her latest travel evolution as she heads out for southern African in three days is that she will move on before her 90-day visa expires. Eccentric? Neurotic? Probably a combination, not that she cares. Like the hideously rich, she will follow the summer.
