AudioFiles: Scenes From The City

There's no place in the world like New York.  This week, AudioFiles takes a look at some of the city's sub-cultures and the people who define them.

We'll explore the evolving world of hip hop music and travel back in time when the East Village was defined by punk.  We'll get an inside look at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and its famous balloons.  We'll also hear from young Brooklyn skateboarders and learn how city parents are taking over Meetup.com.

Scenic Designer Julia Noulin Merat joins us in the studio to tell us how she takes theater and opera sets from imagination to reality. AND latin jazz band Los Hacheros performs LIVE.

Produced by Christine Streich

Hosted by Ajai Raj

Stories by Eli Chen, Tom DiChristopher, Daisy Rosario, Jorteh Seneh, and Adam Warner
