Ms Lovelady is the Executive Director for the Blood and Plasma Research facility that uses the most advanced technology and collection techniques, located in Beaumont, Texas. It is one of only a few centers in the United States, which collects and provides the raw material needed to make specialty products. The plasma from donors with rare antibodies are used to make blood typing serum and for the manufacture of Rh immune globulin, commonly known as RhoGAM®. Plasma from donors with coagulation factor deficiencies is needed as well to manufacture the test kits for detecting hemophilia and other blood clotting problems. As a pioneer in its industry, the Blood and Plasma Research facility will be celebrating its 45th anniversary next year.
