Becoming a new parent is one of the thrills of life. The culmination of nine long months of wondering and waiting, of questioning and growing confidence, birth is an ecstatic pinnacle, the start of a new family.  Overwhelmed with joy, excitement, unbelievable feelings of love for their baby and for their significant other, mothers receive their newborns, pulling them close on their chest and wrapping protective arms around their precious new one.  Skin-to-skin, fingers touching the warm, soft back and head of their new child, breathing in a scent that can only be the scent of their baby, mothers and fathers (or significant others) begin a new phase of parenthood.  Ashford Radio has heard that this time immediately after birth is filled with overwhelming emotions and can impact the rest of the baby’s and family’s life.  To enrich our understanding, Dr. Barb, a member of the Ashford Radio Community, is roaring back to tell us about the “Miracle Hour”, the first hours after birth.
