Join my special guest Jacqueline James Pendleton-Dukes as she shares the untold story of her grandfather Fred Vernon, Sr. Her grandfather left a lasting impression on his her. Fred was born and raised in Tangipahoa Parish, LA. He is the grandson of Robert "Deacon" Vernon better known as "Free Bob." Free Bob was born a slave,  but purchased his freedom and became a slave owner.

Fred  was a farmer by trade. Farming was his primary source of income for his family. He planted everything imaginable: cotton, vegetables, strawberries, melons, corn, potatoes peanuts and every kind of bean you can imagine. Jacqueiline recalls life being rich on her grandfather's farm.
