One of my Bro’s said today, “Our Black people are a simple minded people”. That makes me sad and makes me cry, especially on the weekend commemorating Dr. King’s, “I Have A Dream” speech, Glenn Beck and all that craziness. He may be right but more important me that we stop focusing on a Dream and the negative aspects of what may be right now in Black America. I don’t want to add my energy to all the other negative energy out there about what’s WRONG with us…the numbers are there. What my desire is as a 45 year old African American female is to give my energy towards solutions, real solutions. This is why knowledge of our history Black History is so vital. Know about the Dream but why has that become our focal point as Black Americans? The Dream MLK was speaking of WAS a DREAM to him in HIS time. Why do we still Dream that same Dream 47 years later, Black “Leadership”? Join me this week, we will finish up The Terrible Transformation and go on to the Revolution in our discussion of PBS’ African’s in America Series. Learn your history, grow and move forward. When Dr. King died, his DREAM for us was economic equality. We do him and so many others, an injustice by continuing to say all Black people get is A DREAM. The Dream was yesterday, we need to WAKE UP, PLAN and MOVE today. Join me in LOVE! SFJ
