On the heels of a most spirited discussion on Critical Discourse, involving the United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) ruling on both the Arizona Illegal Immigration and Affordable Health Care Acts, we are continuing with Part II, devoted solely to the latter, also known as Obamacare.

Admittedly not really knowing much about the Act itself, I exhorted the fine listeners of Critical Discourse to learn what they can.  Understanding that this is an over 2,000 page document, it would be impractical to expect it to be read in its entirety.

However, I take the position that we should at least attempt to understand key aspects of the very text, itself. What does Obamacare mean for us? Will it benefit or hurt in the long run? Being that SCOTUS ruled that it is lawful, pursuant to the right of Congress to impose taxes, does this put Barack Obama in the position of going against what he promised not to do, which was not to raise taxes on the middle-class?

Is Mitt Romney overlooking key aspects of Obamacare, simply for political gain? Are the Republicans committing political suicide with their pledge to overturn it on July 11th?

Is a “penalty” a “tax” in the truest sense of the word? Did Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts put a “monkey wrench” by his stated opinion?

Come and sit with us on Critical Discourse, this Saturday, as we delve into this most controversial law, and try to understand what will transpire in 2014, when it becomes the law of the land; a law which could very well pose as much of a threat to the healthcare system and the economy as it could possibly hurt.
