This is I.T. (Inconvenient Truth)!!! – The Chance to Fit In
This past week, I took part in being a chaperone for my son’s fifth grade class at an adventure camp. One of the kid’s in the class is type 1 diabetic. I learned a lot about him as well as myself in how we will risk everything to fit in, just to experience a normal life or activity. For three days he went beyond his limit just so that he could feel normal. Speaking with his parents I could tell his parents limits what he can do just because he is their only child. His mother admitted that the doctor stated that he needs a little more freedom to learn what his body can and can’t handle. I kept a watchful eye on him to ensure that he didn’t go too far in proving he could do anything. I encouraged him at every challenge our group was faced with. I was proud to see him climb the rock climbing wall and reach the top. I was asked how I felt about everything he did and if I didn’t live with chronic pain would I do the same thing? Would You? Call in, Listen in or join chat to hear my thoughts on this!!!!
