The tamed animal minds ithe one who is the master because the master has proven to be powerful in the life of the animal.  The animal has needs and the master of the animal provides for the animal, even though the animal doesn't know what the needs are.  The animal awaits the master.  One day the master doesn't show up and the animal finds out how to think .  

The animal begins to think of where food comes from, the shelter is available but the animal has to think about how to keep warm or cooler and how to maintain cleanliness for self and the shelter. The animal thinks about the master and misses the master's loud voice and beckoning for the animal to do various things, for the master, of course, and those thingsd did not make the animal feel good.

Well,  now years later, the animal has become a mind, able to think over the needs for the once was just an animal.  Now a new master is over the animal, and this master does for the animal without the harshness.  No harshness at all, you see,  the animal is the master and the master is the animal.
