Welcome to the New Year, people!  Thusly, for 2014, why not listen to the latest "sonic double feature" episode of The Grindhouse airing this Saturday at 6pm sharp!  For our first act, commonly referred to as The Comic Shoppe, check out how Daryll B., Captain Kirk and Dburt tackle the following sci-fi/fantasy/comic book/"nerdic" inspired issues: the crew ponders what to embrace, avoid and/or reconsider in pulp cinema for the next 12 months; UK's Sherlock returns for a third season (finally!); Dburt discovers more guilty pleasures, courtesy of Amazon.com (Alpha House, Betas) as well as another UK teen supernatural series (Wolfblood); we speculate what Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be doing in his proposed DC/Warner collaboration; a recent Shadow & Act article ponders the need for an African/Black inspired fantasy property-perhaps a sepia toned Game of Thrones and lastly, will Marvel have to figure out something to do with actor, Tom Hiddleston's Loki beyond his conection to the Thor franchise (50,000 online petitioners think so)?  Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.

And now for the second act!  Check out Afronerd Radio at 7pm when Capt. Kirk and Dburt unpack the following topics: our thoughts on the inauguration of Hizzoner Bill de Blasio for Mayor of NYC; MSNBC's Dr. Melissa Harris Perry gets into hot water over former presidential candidate, Mitt Romney's adopted child of color; a recent article from The Root encapsulates the loss of the last Black owned TV station (maybe); is "on break" baby making a new lower tier trend (a la Dwyane Wade, Ludacris)? and lastly, M. Night Shyamalan posits how America can close its scholastic achievement gap in his new book, I Got Schooled.  Again folks..not the show to miss!
