the "achievement gap"
if there is going to be a renewed civil rights movement, there are many many more issues that deserve to be the cornerstone. For my money, I'd nominate unequal access to educational opportunities or violence in inner city communities. I'd love nothing more than to see 10,000 protesters descend to city halls and state legislatures protesting discrepancies in funding, school overcrowding, untrained teachers in maths and sciences, inadequate facilities and other systematic inequalities that feed &q

Thank you for bringing this up. I wrote this on my blog (bookishblackgirl.blogspot.com ) today on the Jena case: " While I support the right of these young men in Jena to seek equal and fair treatment under the law, the reality is that Mychal Bell is NOT Rosa Parks.
