if there is going to be a renewed civil rights movement, there are many many more issues that deserve to be the cornerstone. For my money, I'd nominate unequal access to educational opportunities or violence in inner city communities. Thank you for bringing this up. I wrote this on my blog (bookishblackgirl.blogspot.com ) today on the Jena case: " While I support the right of these young men in Jena to seek equal and fair treatment under the law, the reality is that Mychal Bell is NOT Rosa Parks. The bottom line is that they committed a crime. And I for now have a hard time basing a renewed "civil rights" movement on the count of young violent attackers.
