TURNS OUT WALMART MAY BE THE VILLAIN HERE... SUMMER DRIVING IS HERE, AND WE ARE BEING RIPPED OFF! ENERGY/TRANSPORTATION/CRONYISM GUEST: Eric Peters, is a contributor to The Spectator, LewRockwell.com and publisher of Ericpetersautos.com. He is author of Road Hogs: Detroit's Big, Beautiful Luxury Performance Cars of the 1960s and 1970s. Peters is a Libertarian gear-head who writes about cars, energy and freedom, hates being told what to do, and will never try to tell you what to do. "Main Street" is Americana. Literally, it's the primary road in a town, but culturally it's much more than that. Main street is synonymous with mainstream, but it also evokes core American ideals like fairness — that the rules are the same for the "average Joe" as they are for wealthy corporations. In recent years, Walmart has tried to appropriate "Main Street" into the names of various lobbying campaigns it's funding. First, it was the "Alliance for Main Street Fairness," a Walmart-led coalition to impose price controls on payment fees.
