Small businesses can be found all around the world. These businesses represent the backbone of every society.

They employ local people, supply products or services to their community, and help to keep the rotation of dollars in town.

Any business, however, that lacks the ability to constantly prospect for new clients is, unfortunately, a business on its way out-of-business.

Many people that say "I want to become a professional speaker" don't realize it, but becoming a speaker requires you to become a business person first.

It is this lack of understanding of the business of speaking that causes some speakers to fail. Not because they are not good speakers, but because they don't know how to market themselves as speakers and prospect for new speaking opportunities.

Jerry X Shea has owned six different types of small businesses and is now an accomplished author and speaker to the small business community. In today's show he will give us some tips on how new speakers can find speaking opportunities.
