“Because Life can be Better”

Jim Grapek (pronounced ‘Gray-peck’) -- chef, restaurant operator, documentary filmmaker, health care practitioner, dowser, and Black Belt -- believes we can do better.

His thinking, and his broadly diverse skills and experience, come together in his current venture, a start-up called The Pavilion – conceived to help restore the balance and create that ‘brighter’ future.

According to the website, The Pavilion -- a stunning, 75,000 square foot, Star-Trek like center for community and living well – will deliver the best that science and humanity has to offer, to enable people to live healthier, happier, and richer lives.

“I was inspired by the grand World’s Fairs of yester-year,” says Jim. “Not only were they cool, they showed people how the best of science and human ingenuity was going to enhance their lives in the future.  I want to go one better -- by delivering the best that science and human ingenuity has to offer, to enhance people’s lives right now.”

Grapek says The Pavilion came about as a result of a confluence of events and energies. That, and the fact that his education, background, and experience seemed to uniquely qualify him for the job. “There was nothing more important I thought I should be doing. I also figured that if I didn’t do it, nobody else probably would.”

Some nine years later, after going through personal bankruptcy, driving more than 2,000 UBER rides to help make ends meet, and experiencing his own health challenges – including a quadruple heart bypass – Grapek still has The Pavilion on his mind.
